Pony apocolypse? Cloudsdale crashes~

100 or so years later after being abandoned, an oasis created by the water still being produced by the crashed weather city.

Does anyone else get kind of a Nausicaa Of The Valley Of The Wind feeling from this? Maybe just because it's a desolate desert with a city in the middle of it.
Strange, I don't actually get an "abandoned" feel from this, apart from the bones. I actually think it would be cool if Pegasi occasionally did this by setting a cloud-city down in the middle of a desert to allow life to thrive there. They already control the weather, why not terraform parts deserts?
Anyway, great picture, congrats on the EQD feature, I'm definitely adding this to my pile of wallpapers. :D

(a lone scout walks threw the desert).

What is that I see?.

Is that what I think it is?.

Or are my eyes playing tricks on me?.

(walks over for a closer look).

No, it's real, it's really real!.

It's really Cloudsdale!.

(runs as fast as possible to the city).

The stories are ture!.

A relic from the time of Equestria's pre-apocolyptic era.

(looks around)

I see loads of damege everywhere, there must have been a battle that took place here.

(sees the weather facilty).

That complex is still in working order, I can tell by the oasis back down there.

(go's into deep throught).

Who or what was responsible for this?.

(a voice from a communicator)

Team leader Matsky to Alesa, come in please?.

(breaks out of deep througth and responds).

Alesa here, do you have my position, over?.

Matsky: We have your position, but it'll take us till morning to get to you, over.

Alesa: Well you better get here as fast as you can, because ya gotta see this, over.

Matsky: What is it?, over.

Alesa: I'll talk to you in presence when you get here, over.

Matsky: Ok, just keep ya locator on at all times, and contact us every now and then, ya copy?.

Alesa: Copy that, Alesa out.

Didn't really put much thought into that to be honest. I'd wager a guess that in this fiction-ey thing either it would be behind the viewer, or the entire mountain would have been decimated by some explosion.

Honestly, I didn't see much reason to go into details. This picture is already miserable enough ^^

I didn't have much time when i first wieved this. But now i zoomed and observed details. I hereby declare it awesome. Well I don't really like those bones, but otherwise it's so nice... like painted by watercolors. Those mountains seem painted with little of color and lots of water, as opposed to the clouds in the sky. Those have feel of tempera colors and dry brush. And the sand is composed of many broad strokes, full darker color as a base and then lighter dry brush on top.

...I ran out of english words to use. I'll just admire it silently. Also it's 0:30 AM here, so I may or may not make sense.

;3?

On a more serious note. No, I think maybe just a fast abandonment for some reason, war or something.

I have. Part of it. I got emotionally sucked, so I ran away screaming. But it's good idea you have there. Only in that case it wouldn't be this sunny and there's be more of 'snow'.
